Yixing Zisha teaware is renowned for its incredibly dense yet porous structure. Unlike ordinary ceramics, it possesses a unique double-pore composition, invisible to the naked eye, which grants it exceptional breathability without compromising its non-leaking properties. This remarkable characteristic allows the tea liquor's color, aroma, and taste to be preserved for extended periods. With proper care, a Yixing Zisha teapot develops a magnificent "patina" over time – a lustrous, smooth surface that grows more beautiful with each use.

Yixing Zisha is a protected geographical indication product of China, celebrated with the poetic verse, "What are earthly jewels worth, when Yixing Zisha is paramount?" This testament eloquently underscores the immense value and esteemed status of Yixing Zisha.

This exquisite teapot is crafted from Zhu Ni, a precious type of Yixing Zisha clay. Characterized by its high iron content, Zhu Ni fires to a rich, radiant red hue, boasting a fine, lustrous, and remarkably beautiful texture.

Epitome of Graceful Proportions The "Xishi Teapot" derives its name from Xishi, one of China's Four Great Beauties. Legend describes Xishi as a celestial figure with a flawless physique – adding a touch would be too full, removing a touch too slender. The Xishi teapot is named for its perfectly balanced and exquisitely curvaceous lines, a true embodiment of ideal proportions.

Instructions for Use

This Zisha teapot features a built-in, ball-shaped filter in its spout. Its 100ml capacity is perfect for a personal tea meditation or for sharing intimate tea moments with one or two cherished friends.

Due to Yixing Zisha's unique ability to absorb tea essences and enhance flavor, it is highly recommended to dedicate each Zisha teapot to a single type of tea. Zhu Ni teapots are particularly well-suited for brewing Oolong teas, unlocking their full aromatic potential.

Care & Seasoning

Unlocking the Patina Before its first use, your Yixing Zisha teapot requires a special Seasoning process, much like seasoning a cast-iron pan. Follow these steps:

  1. Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the teapot with clean water.
  2. Hot Water Rinse: Pour boiling water over the teapot to open its pores.
  3. Initial Brew: Discard the water. Select a tea type (we recommend using the same type for all future brews with this pot) and brew it in the teapot (do not pour out or drink).
  4. Cooling & Rinse: Once the tea has cooled in the teapot, discard it and rinse the teapot. Your teapot is now seasoned!

Daily Maintenance

Before each brewing session, you may pre-warm the teapot by rinsing it with hot water.

After brewing, thoroughly clean and dry the teapot, ensuring it remains dry.

Absolutely avoid using chemical detergents as they can adversely affect the teapot's unique flavor-enhancing properties.

Achieving the Desired Patina ("Bao Jiang")

While brewing, when the teapot is hot and its pores are expanded, use a dedicated soft brush dipped in cool water to gently brush the surface of the teapot. This helps the tea oils penetrate deeper into the clay, contributing to the development of a glossy and smooth patina.

After brewing, while the teapot is still warm, use a semi-dry cloth to polish the teapot. This ensures an even distribution of the patina, enhancing its beauty.
